SayWhatCypher presents… Dilla Night 🍩 8th February 7pm - 10pm *SCAPE Plaza. A night of soulful beats, timeless music and love. 🎶❤️ Meant to commemorate one of hiphop’s most prolific producers, James Dewitt Yancey, AKA J Dilla who has played a huge role in producing many of hiphop’s classic hits from Runnin’ with Pharcyde to Didn’t Cha Know with Erykah Bahdu. Dilla Night proudly presents our curated line up of artists: DJs TRueCoLoR$, Chops and Zai and Hip-Hop live instrumental band: Clementi Sound Appreciation Club with Cravism on keys. 🎧🎸 Our DJs will bring us through a journey of Dilla's discography, starting with TRueColoR$ and his tasteful curation guided by his decades of experience in the hiphop culture, expect a set of Remixe$,Neo-$oul,Blend$ & Bar$ Following up we have DJ Zai with an eclectic style of DJing, rooted in hip hop and its stylistic origins like funk, soul and jazz. Inspired by J Dilla's unrestrained use of obscure samples and unconventional rhythms, Zai sets weave freely through hip hop's most iconic joints and their influences with impeccable turntablism. At the peak of our night, we are graced by 5 piece live instrumental hip hop group, Clementi Sound Appreciation Club joined by prolific beatmaker and artist Cravism on keys, they will perform their take on their favourite J Dilla tracks with their versatile and idiosyncratic sound whisking the audience into another world. Last and certainly not least, DJ Chops will close up the night with his signature soulful selections mixed with hard hitting Dilla bangers, leaving the audience with an irresistible urge to VIBE OUT. With an insane line up of artists providing great music, we invite the community to share this space with us and just soak in the vibes and love of the night. This will be a tribute to remember.
